hey guys. Here's my problem -- im hoping someone has an idea what can be causing it:

I was replacing my manifold to turbo gasket and 2 turbo bolts broke off, so i took the whole turbo / manifold assembly out of the car.

I got the turbo bolts out, put new ones in, put a new slowboyracing gasket in, and threw the whole deal back on today. I put gasket non-hardnening sealant on both sides of the gasket.

As soon as I started the car, it seemed to run fine. Exhaust sounded good. Then a white smoke started to appear coming off the manifold. It wasnt that much, it wasnt too white, just a bit of smoke and a weird smell. I tried to track to where it was coming from, and it didnt appear to be coming from my tubo. Then I remembered, i was only on about half to 3/4 coolant, so I shut it off right away and filled it up. It only ran for about 30 seconds like this.

so i check my oil, and fill my coolant, both are ok. I start it back up, and theres not really any smoke. So I figure great, and take it for a ride here to work.

Now I have immense turbo lag, in every gear. It lags so bad, it sits around 4-5psi and doesnt start raising till about 5.5k rpms, and then it shoots up to about 16psi, where it should be.

Could I have something connected wrong, or what the heck could the problem be???

I figured boost leak, and I haven't tested it yet, but I tightened everything like a mofo. The car ran 4 days ago no problem, no boost leak.

Could the turbo be burnt out or anything? Could the smoke / smell be from that gasket glue crap burning off? I need HELP!!

Don't worry about the smoke rolling off your manifold. Normally when you take it off, oil from your skin gets on it and that causes it to smoke and yes I would imagine the sealant is burning off too. Sounds to me like you have a major exhaust leak. Check the nuts from the manifold to head and recheck the manifold to turbo bolts.
