Ok, here's what's happened with my 97 gst.

Back in march i blew my head gasket and found out that the head was screwed so i just decided to get a brand new engine. Since my parents won't let me do any work myself i took it to a shop that said they would sell me an engine and a 3 month warranty. So, they put it in and i had it back for 12 days and it was leaking a lot of oil so i took it back to them and they replaced the oil pump housing and gasket. After i got it back again it wouldn't start and it was a bad starter and while it was in there they found out that my Throttle position sensor was bad.

I got it back again today (6-26-04) and it is idoling between 1400 and 2000. When i'm at half throttle it seems to accelerate and boost like it should, but when i push it any harder it seems to not get any faster. My first thought was a boost leak so i tightened all of the hoses and it made no difference. When i got back from testing to see if it had made a difference it started making a loud belt squeak noise that wouldn't stop. I then turned it off and pushed it in to the garage.

If anybody has any pointers on anything i could do, it would be very much appreciated. If not then i guess i'll just tow the car back to the shop on monday and have them mess with it some more.

I had the same from with my dsm. The belts would squeak really loud and would keep doing it or stop after a little while of driving. I found out a screw holding the bracket for my alternator was broke half way inside the engine and would pop out and hit the power steering belt when i started it. Just check and make sure nothings touching your power steering or alternator belt while the motor is running. Also you might want to see if the belts are any good and see if they are too tight or too loose. Oh i live and euless, tx and there arn't to many good dsm shops around here. Where do you take your car in arlington?

The only good dsm shop around here is Alamo Autosports off of cooper. They're pretty expensive though. I took my car to a friend of a friend and i ended up getting screwed over really bad.

I try to stay away from alamo, redline, etc. There more like honda shops and such. A great dsm/turbo shop is bdj's racing over on rufe snow off of 820. You also might want to try doing your own work like me and my friend with a 96 gst. We figured we could save $$$ by just learning to do it ourselves even though we cant do everything, its pretty fun.
