Odd problem while driving, hardly any acceleration in 3rd gear...

Car is completely stock. Has only done this once so far.

I took off driving normal not racing, 1st, 2nd no problem soon as I put it in 3rd I got nothing, the car was still moving and had barely enough acceleration to keep moving, but it did keep accelerating and I mean just BARELY. No noises, it didnt "putt", buck, shake or smells etc, so I put it back into 2nd and its fine, shift into 3rd drives normal again.

Have you pulled the ecu and checked to make sure the caps are not leaking? I have seen leaking caps cause some pretty strange problems.

Well I dont smell anything funny inside and there is no ticking noises too my knowledge at least. If it happens again I will be sure to listen for em.

I do have a set of caps on my dresser I bought just incase, guess Ill have to check that out tomorrow.

When my ecu sh@t the bed, it made no clicking and no smell in the car. It started doing stupid things like losing all power for a moment, idling rough then smooth again. After a while, it would run fine then wouldnt crank back up for hours. It happened very gradually and very sporattic which kept me chasing my tail for months. I would check it now before the circuit board is damaged.

Im about 99.9% sure its the ECU now. Pulling it tomorrow. The CEL did come on when it happened. Has to be the ECU.
