Wierd sense of power loss? And another question.

OK, so I'm going toward a turn doing about 15 miles an hour (it's a left hand turn) almost bottom of second gear, going to power through it like I usually do, when I hear the turbo start to spool....it felt like my clutch was slipping MAJORLY. Just got my clutch replaced with an ACT 2100, and am near the end of the breaking in, all low RPM shifts, and NO launches. Could it be possible that crankwalk is setting in on an almost 114000 mile car? I did the turn again after that, because it scared the shit out of me, I did it the same exact way, and the Talon pulled through brilliantly, like it always does? Should I be concerned, or is it all in my head?

Also, Different problem, but instead of starting a new thread: Would I just get strikers for my power door locks which don't work with the button or the remote for them to work again like usual? (I.E.: pushing in the button makes them lock/unlock, instead of doing it manually like I have been doing?)

With the whole left hand turn thing I would start thinking crankwalk myself. Dont consider me an expert but since you said left hand turn...

seeing that you have a 96' I say crank walk has started...

you can check it with a rubber mallet, prybar, and a accurate measuring tool..

1. jack up the car
2. hit the crank pulley over a few times (not insanly hard) to make sure it is all the way to the left
3. measure the distance from the pulley so something you know will no change such as the oil pan ( do not use the plastic t-bet cover cuz it can move)
4. pry out on the pulley to pull it away from the block
5. measure the distance again
6. subtract smaller measurement from larger to get the total endplay.

I am not sure what the limit is but it will have maybe .010-.020 in good shape. my motor had .075 end play it was huge..

you can also somewhat tell if it is bad. if the motor bogs down at idle when you push the clutch in it is more than likely crankwalked.. the thrust bearing lets the crank mover over and puts all the rods in a bind causing the motor to struggle.. mine would go from a 1,000 rpm idle to 500 rpms or die when I pushed in the clutch

It happened again, same speed, second gear, but this time on a right hand turn. Could this possibly indicate I'm having Transmission problems? I'm hoping that it's just tranny problems, since an engine replacement just can't be done right now, but I can live without a few gears in the tranny until I can replace it.

I wounder if it is the same thing that is happening with my car. I have a 91 though. The car spools but it gives it no power and it almost sounds like ur pulling something or something is holding u back by the tone of the exhaust>but yea it happenes all the time for me in every gear but fifth and wont start doing it untill im half way through the gear. but then it will clear out and run fine then doin again someother time. I have no idea what it is

mine only does it in second gear (so far) i'm just hoping, praying, and generally doing insane rituals to the fact that it's not crankwalk :(

Anyone else have any opinions? Also...are those the parts i need for my door locks?

Nothing useful to add to the thread, other than the fact that I get the EXACT same thing.

Found out something new to add to the mystery.

Apparently, I have an exhaust leak from somewhere in front of the flex pipe. When I rev the engine from the throttle body with the hood open, I can see a puff of smoke (exhaust smoke) from my bay, It kinda looks like it is coming from either the manifold or the turbo, I can't really tell. Also, I can hear it when I'm coasting or cruising around at around 3 grand in third gear, it sounds like I stripped a spark plug and it's not sitting in there right (just the sound i'm comparing that too, that's what it sounds like on my buddy's old explorer, at least.) I know that NONE of my spark plugs are stripped, but I still fear the worst on either the turbo or manifold being cracked. Or maybe my bearings being burned up in the turbo....Please help me, give me a way to test it without removing it. I have no way to jack up my car without taking it to a shop since my step dad's an ass, but I won't get into that. Anyways, please help. Thanks.
