I'm a newb to driving stick and just had a question on whether or not this is my clutch slipping...

This usually just happens in 1st and 2nd gear... but when I'm driving around and get to about 3500-4000 RPMs the RPMs go sky high and the car doesn't pick up any speed. When this is happening and I shift to the next gear... the RPMs are at about 3000. I would expect them to be higher when shifting that high if everything was normal...

Also, when I get on it in 3rd (happens in 2nd once in a while if the problem above doesn't happen) and get to around 4000+ RPMs or so... the car starts shaking violently and almost seems like it's bucking or something.

Two of my friends have driven the car and one of them made a comment about a slipping clutch. The other one is what I guess you can call my "mechanic friend" and the first time he drove it he just said "your clutch is slipping." I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else before I go putting in a new clutch next week.

Also, would a ACT 2100 or 2600 be recommended for a daily driven GSX with a 16G and supporting mods. I've seen some ppl say the 2100 is great, and others say why bother with it... just get a 2600. I also saw a feramic clutch kit by Gabor for sale at AMS when i went up there the other day. Supposed to have the grip of a 2600 but the pedal pressure of a 2100... so I figured that's the best of both worlds for a daily driver... anyone have any experience with this clutch? or suggestions? :thumb:

From what i hear the 2100 is more suitable for a daily driver as the 2600 increases some clutch pressure,
unless your going be throwing some serious power at it id say the 2100 will do fine , plus ive heard that the 2600 increases the risk of crankwalk for 97 and up cars...but thats just what i have heard. Use this site to your advantage and do som searches on this stuff, theres so much out there

Sounds like a bad clutch to me. It starts slipping the clutch at those RPM's because thats where your powerband is, and since your turbo, thats where you really start building boost.

I would go for the 2100, especially since you have a 7 bolt engine, and the 2600 may just end up killing your engine, causing it to crankwalk.
