Ok... Here's my delemia... ITs proably been brought up before, but I cant find a good explanation. My car drives fine. But once I spool up to full boost, and I am at full throttle, my car begins to studder and the rpms (they dont drop) but they dont go up smoothly to redline... I dont know what it is. During the studdering it the rpms will go up then pause then go up and pause. Its horrible because I know my car is faster, and its just being held back... My one friend said it might be dirty fuel injectors. So I used fuel injector cleaner, and it didnt help. I also thought it was my turbo reaching its max (18psi on a t-25) so I dropped the boost to a healthy 14psi. But at full throttle it still does that jerky thing instead of steady rise. HELP

My car does the same thing.
When it reaches high RPMs and turbo spools up it pauses and then keeps goin.
I cant figure it out either. It could be a problem with traction in my case.

Sounds more like bad spark plugs or wires. I know of a lot of people, myself included, that had that problem. New spark plugs made it a diff car.

Ok... I thought it might have something to do with the spark plugs and wires. Thier still stock.. so i guess they'll have to go. Will someone pleez tell me the right wires to get? I heard that platnum arn't good to use (or maybe it was the other way around... I dont remember)... I have no idea what plugs and wires to look for... I'm looking at upgrading the turbo to an 18g and getting 550's/superafc... so what plugs and wires will be good for my current setup and the next setup?

ANd I know that it isnt traction problems... Im pretty sure its not traction. I spin at the top of first, but the rest of the gears are ok. I notice this rpm go stop go stop even in 4th and 5th... I just got the dunlop sp5000s about a year ago (a lil less)... I DO know that my clutch is begining to slip a little bit, but thats not the problem. It wouldnt studder so badly if it was just the clutch... It might just be the spark plugs and the wires. I use 93 octane gas. ANd I did notice While the fuel injector cleaner was in the tank, it did run alot smoother and the problem was not nearly as bad as it was before. But after I refilled the tank, the problem came back. I tried using STP cleaner Again after that, but it didnt help. So maybe it is the plugs... *hint* tell me some suggetstions of plugs/wires before i talk myself to sleep *hint* :thumb:

Whats up! well i would have to say go with Mangnocore wires! and some NGK spark plugs will do! just fine and there good and very reliable! and remember! also after replaceing that check your ignition coil! does not sound like it could be that? but you might have a mis-fire in higher rpms? but i am sure replace the spark plugs and yo should be fine! and also do a full tune up while your at it! if not already done so! oil filter motor oil! and why are you running 93 oct. you should only be running 91 ! i did not check your setup! but you might be running to much of a high octane rating! well good luck with your car! dont give up on yor dsm ! i almost did! hahah :)

Too high an octane rating?? Higher octane will only make your engine run better, I've never heard of anyone complaning that their octane is too high. Also, on the east coast and much of the midwest, premium is 92-93 octane...not the 91 you guys are stuck with on the west coast. Sucks for you!

he is rite we use Sunoco 94 out here and nothing less, the person that stated the new plugs and wires is also correct, we have seen this problem quite a bit lately and we found that 8.5 mm Magancores and NGK 1step colder (properly gapped) BPRE7 (i think thats it) work really well. Also one thing we have seen causes a few problems is a oold fuel filter, definately recommend that you replace that after 60k. Also what are you tuning with? we also found giving it a few % in the upper RPM range fixed the problem but thats normally only for people using t-25's at over 17+psi..

Best of luck and keep us updated.

OK, i made my vacuum line pressure tester and hooked it up to an air compressor and filled to 15psi and then listened for air leaks. First i noticed air escaping from the small tube goin from the bov to the intake manifold. Replaced the hose and the clamps and then tested again. I noticed air escaping from my IAC screw and then i noticed some escaping from the 2nd and 3rd injectors after plugging the IAC. I held both of them down and it seams like theres no more air leaks but i dont know how to keep air from escaping from the injectors when im driving around. Should i plug up the IAC. Im getting my plugs gapped tomorrow. How much is that gonna cost me?Anybody know?

Yes I know how much. $1.00 at the local auto parts store LOL. Just buy a spark plug gapper(gap them between .028 and 0.32) and your set. As for spark plugs, NGK bpr7es are what alot of DSM enthusiasts use. As for wires, I know people running Accel's in there cars as well as Magnecore and I personally use Taylor "409" race wires.

My car has the same problem as jahjahpoet. If my spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, or coil is bad, can that cause my car to fail an emissions test? The hydrocarbon and carbon-monoxide levels were too high (hydrocarbons - standards= 0.80, readings= 2.03; CO2 - stds= 15.0, readings= 21.1), and my car failed.

I dont have much time for the emissions bullshit cos i was too lazy and waited till the last minute to try and figure out what the problem was. Imma try and get some new spark plugs and put em in and see what happens.

Also another thing I noticed was that last night i took the spark plug wire cover off and the middle two were not seated all the way down, it seemed as if they came loose or something. So I pushed down hard on all four and made sure they were seated tightly, then I took the car for a spin, and when i came back and popped the hood, the second from left had moved up a lil bit. I didnt really understand why that happened.

I need to figure something out asap cos imma try and fix the problem tomorrow and try and pass the emissions test.

Oh i forgot to mention, my car had a turbo xs type h when i bought it, and i thought my car was stuttering because the bov was leaking, so i put the stock 2g one on, and i felt no difference. Like jah jah said my car also stutters when i stomp on the gas, but if i press the gas a lil bit till it reaches 3k, then a lil more till it reaches 5k, and so on, the rpm goes all the way till redline and it pulls hard, but only when i floor it the car pulls up to 3k then starts to jerk, but slowly moves up. Mann it gets so frustrating

My car is fixed. All i did was gap the spark plugs my freind intsalled for me a few weeks ago and it runs and pulls like new. And to think i believed my Beater Camaro Freind was right when he said " u dont need to gap spark plugs." :barf:

The same thing had happen to me when I replaced my head gasket. When I put it all back together it would miss and drive like shit and vibrate like crazy. Well when I was about to tear it apart again I decided to first take out th espark plugs and it ended up that I had previously dropped one and there was no gap at all! haha Good Luck :thumb:

I changed my wires to 8mm Taylor Sport Compact Series Ignition Wires and NGK BPR7ES spark plugs and OMG my car pulls like fukin crazy now! Man its so crazy I spent the whole day peeling out and just flying down streets doing like 75-80 mph :D .

My car also passed the emissions test. No more pending suspension on CDL :) .

I got the plugs and wires for $70, they had a deal where plugs were free with wires.

18" Wheels w/tires - $1500
Evo Style VIS CF Hood - $600
Apexi N1 Catback - $420
