02 sensor, tps. emissions

just got my talon register and the problems already started. first the car is eating too much gas, 02 sensor maybe? second the idles go up and down. tps maybe? oh did i mention that it didnt pass emissions cause the readinds were too high. the car drives fine and its stock. any help would be apreciated

Sounds like you may need some routine maintainence done.

New plugs, wires, fuel filter will probably help alot. If the car still doesnt pass emissions in the end, maybe a new cat is in your future.

As far as the idle problems, if the 2g is like the 1g, the culprit is a bad idle speed control motor. happens to crap out alot.

I agree. Do a FULL tuneup (oil change, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, tranny fluid, x-fer case fluid, rear diff fluid, rad flush, etc) and replace the O2 sensor, that sounds like the problem. Your idle will probably smooth out after the tune-up. If it doesn't, then test the ISC like shown here: http://dmtalon.v8eaters.com/ISC.html

Doing a nice tune-up like I described above has helped me pass a few times, it should work fine for you too. You do need a new O2 sensor from what it sounds like.

thanks guys. i will buy the o2 sensor and test the isc. i already changed the oil and oil filter. i will soon be replacig the spark plugs and the wires. as well as all the other fluids.
i will be getting a new cat pretty soon, probably 3 inch along with a 3 inch exhaust. i just dont really wanna start modding the car before its running like it should, so i must get it to run properly. also today i notice that my tranny grinds a little bit when i shift from 1st to second at high rpms. its just a little bit, but hopefully with better tranny fluid it will get better. wich fluids would u guys recomend for my tranny and x case and rear diff.
