When my orig TMO Cable took a dump I got the same message. I actually "borrowed" the same cable you ref which works fine. Just make sure all those "clips" are on the right pinouts on the diagnostic port.

no, if you look at his previous auctions, i bought one too. (jfett2002) and i even sent the first one back and they dont work. tmo software sucks is what i have came to the conclusion to. the guy that sells em has no idea of the compatibility either... i ended up buying a palm pilot for mine, and just bought a gender changer to work with palm and now it works. but i tried it right before i got a palm with tunerstein and it worked, just very laggy, and a very shitty program to say the least. i also tried with 3 laptops, a pentium 2, 3, and a new dell inspiron (celeron) along with installing every single operating system for each laptop (95,98,2k,me,xp)and it just doesnt work with TMO. consider yourself LUCKY if you have tmo working with your laptop. buy a cheap 50$ palm m105, and itll work. i love it because it has a backlight mode, where the screen goes bright neon green and looks awesome. (looks like a cd player, bright neon green letters and symbols on a dark green background) all you gotta do is hold down the power button for like 5 seconds, many people have shunned the m105 for its lacking backlight capabilities, but they just dont know how to use em :p

Out of curiosity are you speaking of "bootlegged" TMO Datalogger software or the original licenced CD/Diskette?

My licensed TMO version has served me well for 5+ years until the cable broke earlier this year. Calling the TMO Datalogger crap because a $24 hack-job cable bought off eBay didn't work with a Bootlegged version of it is plain silly.

..do you have any idea how easy an obd1 plug is? its send, recieve, and ground. it SHOULD work, but it simply doesnt. tmo is out of business and will never have any updates anyway. oh, and the tmo software coding is so simple, its practically impossible to distort the program by bootlegging it. its a program, they dont lose quality like a bootleg movie on vhs recorded with a camera.....
