car running bad... af guage not coming on.....

ok so i took the car out tonite and the it wasnt running its greatest. at idle rpm was up and down and the af guage was showing no lights and it had a small miss. then while accelerating the guage wouldnt lite up till i gave it some decent throttle. usually its bouncing all over the place as soon as i touch the pedal. also when i would let off after driving the stock boost guage would jump up like when u vent to atm (even though im not). as soon as i got it home i took the intake pipe off and checked to make sure nothin was wrong inside the mas and made sure it was plugged in. then i checked the o2 and found that the cable was sitting on the heat shield. i put it back in the holder on the shield and now evreything is ok... i dont understand what was wrong?? anyone have a clue??

Many people agree that the blinky a/f guages are not good for much more than telling if your o2 sensor works. Perhaps when you adjusted the wire you made a more secure connection with the sensor.
