ok, for a 92 tsi awd:
NOT A GROUND WIRE: rewiring engine harness....fuses in multipurpose junction box were still blowing, well, #19 fuse completed circuits for radio, dome lights, mpi control unit, abs brakes......traced the problem to the abs unit or the two wires that it feeds. There's a relay in the diagram that's drawn wrong, it is drawn as switch constantly on and as battery source. It should be drawn off (still a battery source fuze) and on when ignition is turned on. So, i left the relay unplugged because i couldn't tell if it was something inside the actual unit that was causing the fuze to blow, and i don't want to buy another right now....oh, and they're discontinued from the dealer. In conclusion, fuze doesn't blow ne more.
NOT IGNITION COIL:my car was loosing a lot of power, it didn't even wanna give enough to pass another car before it started to shake, sputter, and kind of backfire.-- i knew it was something with the ignition. i started out small and took out spark plug wires. They crumbled and fell apart when i took them out. nice huh? So, put new ones in, took her for a drive and...problem gone and car was pullin and running great.
ONLY PROBLEM LEFT: My fuel trims are still way off, the car's adding too much fuel. I'm not quite sure why. I had hacked my mass air, and the car just wouldn't idle, it took in too much air vs. fuel. So, i put on another, and idle problem went away. The new mass was from a 91, but i didn't think that would make a difference, cuz it's still a 1G.
can ne one tell me why my fuel trims are higher than they should be, and possible reasons why she's adding so much fuel???
