I have a 2G Eagle Talon Esi. At engine cold and warm my revs take a while to come back down to normal (1000) so basically when I shift instead of shifting at a nice 1k i have to put it in gear at like 2.5k or so. It takes to long form revs to come down, this is the same case at idle, when i let the engine rev they quickly go back down to say 2.5k but the needle slowly works its way back to 1k RPM level. at one point in my cars life (recently) my gas pedal stuck. My thinking is the gas pedal return spring needs to be replaced. Is it possible that even though the gas pedal is currently not sticking that it is taking a while for the spring to return the pedal to its up position?
Thanks for any help :talon:

sticky throttle cable?
play with it under the hood with the car running... see if you can tell if the throttle cable seems sticky

thanks for the suggestion, i have checked that and now know that the throttle fully closes quickly and that there was nothing stuck in the throttle boday

i was thinking about sticky valves and such, would that not also effect regular driving. and this product " mechanic-in-a-bottle" where is is it avaible at, i have tried simple oil additives such as stp

mechanic in a bottle isn't the actual name... i was just suggesting some valve cleaner additive product.. though to be honest, i'm not real familiar with any of them

a friend's mercury cougar has some sticky valves.. if he reves the engine, it takes forever to return to idle.... but it doesn't generally effect driving the automatic...

thanks again
when i next change my oil I am going to use this product made by Gunk that you run through the oil system for about 5 minutes prior to changing the oil. It is supposed to remove gunk and varnish and such.

I'm starting to have the same problem if someone could help. Yes I did a search.

Anyways, there seems to be some slack (the cable and ball) where the pedal is actually located, and when I check the throttle cable under the hood, it looks like it's stuck about halfway and won't go back. I have to manually push the "lever/pedal" back down for it to idle normally. However, when I rev it from under the hood all seems ok. Only when I push it from INSIDE the car does it get stuck. After a few pushes with the engine running does it very slowly start going back, and after 5-10 min of driving does it finally start to function normally (while still feeling a little sticky). So how would I go about checking this?
