My wife overheated the car, don't know for how long but it stopped. Blew oil all over the right side of the engine and tranny. I replaced the head gasket and now it runs like crap. The comp test are as follows #1 45lbs #2 45lbs #3 60lbs #4 90 lbs. Is the fixable without tearing the motor apart furthe than removing the head? i'm thinking a warped head. I get no water in the oil pan but it is pushing compression out the radiator. Any suggestion would be welcomed. Thanks, Orv :dsm:

Is it possible you installed the head gasket incorrectly? ie; up side down. The only thing I can think of besides that is that the cylinder head is cracked badly and allowing the compression of the cylinders into the coolant system. Does it burn any white smoke? Did you have any machine work done to the head prior to re-installation? Chances are you will have to pull the head off again, sorry. Id make sure that there is a new thermostat and a new radiator cap so that overheating wont happen again. And she probably owes you a big one ;) for all the work you now have to do for her.

Got it fixed, it was warped long ways, down the middle allowing the compessin to flow between the cyliders but not get water in the oil and visa versa. I should have had it checked, didn't use my head i guess, thanks for the responses. She got it so hot it need a valve job too. That sucked cause it only had 1200 miles since i had it done.

The radiator had a small hole in it and she wasn't watching the gauges.

just wondering, because i'm having a similar problem, [my radiator cap blew off, car over-heated, valves bent], if you did any of the work yourself-- and if it was difficut.

i would much rather tear apart the car myself, and take to the machine shop what needs to be fixed [and save some cash, and install some perf. parts i've had laying around while doing it], than sign another 2 weeks of my life away. thanks.
