Eating gas, am I rich? Help !

Hey, well, I've noticed that my car has been eating an unusually large amount of gas lately. I smelt my exhaust at idle, smelt pretty normal. Haven't had a chance to smell it while being revved. But do you think the drop on MPG could be caused by a bad O2 sensor? Am I running rich? I have a stock 93 N/T laser. TIA.

how old is your O2 sensor?......sounds like it might be goin bad.

Its the one that came on it. So its about 14 years old. its on a completely stock 1.8l Laser.

that might just be the problem then....put in a new one and see how that goes,

Yep your O2 sensor is beat, the upstream one before the cat. In a stock car if you run rich, its almost always the O2 sensor.
