I don't feel like shelling out another $20 for a tt harness, so I tried to install my Apexi pen style tt today, in my 96 Talon Tsi Awd. No luck whatsoever. I followed all of the guides I could: wiring diagrams on here and elsewhere, instructions, vfaq tips, etc. I connected the red tt wire to the white ignition wire (12v), the blue tt wire to the blue/black ignition wire (Acc), and the green tt wire to the black/white ignition wire. The wires I connected to were not near any type of harness; I couldn't find any of the colored wires I was reading about in the harness that comes out of the steering wheel assembly. So, I did find all of the colored wires that people claim are the ignition wires (white, black and white, two blue and blacks, and a black and red) inside of a plastic ribbed wire housing tube, and I tapped those wires as instructed. I also grounded the tt, although I did not connect the parking brake wire or o2 sensor wire (I figured if I have the rest of it connected properly, I should at least see numbers power up and such on the display).

I got no power up, no signs of life from the tt. Have I tapped the wrong wires? Anyone have any tips? Please help! :(
