I keep getting a check engine light because of my coolant temp sensor. I hooked up a scan tool and it said it was at like -50 degrees so I played with the connectors, which are just female electrical connectors (my wiring harness was mess when i got the car). After switching them and doing some wiggling I got it to read 122 degrees (car was a little warm), so I cleared the code and went on, it drove fine for a while but now the code is back and I'm not sure what to do. Should I suspect the harness/computer or should I replace the CTS. I'm low on funds so the $30 - $40 CTS is not something I want to buy unless it is the problem. Do these things go bad often? Any help would be appreciated because my car runs like crap when the CTS is not working properly. Thanks.

Moved to Problem Diagnosis.

Sounds like you either need to replace the sensor or you have a wiring issue.
