Well, I'm installing the timing belt and BSE kit. I ran into a problem. After I got the balance shafts out, replaced the rear shaft with the stub, decided I didn't want to knock out the front bearings (I'm just leaving the old shaft in place on the sprocket, I cleaned the cover, replaced the gasket, bolted it up, and found this:

Can you identify the part (not the pen)? Thanks!

WARNING - WARNING! Looks like the part that slips over the Front Balance Shaft behind the Sprocket - it's on Shaft where it MATES TO THE OIL SEAL...

-I'm sure you have changed EVERY OIL SEAL on Front Case - If not - back up a few steps... :thumb:

-Don't forget to plug Hole where Front Balance Shaft Tensioner was...

-I'm also sure you've used the 2 diffferent types of Loctite specified on Oil Pump & Torqued same.

-Use Soft Loctite on Tensioner mounting bolts & Torque same .

- Use grenade Pin to set Timing Belt Tension

- I'm sure you've replaced Tensioner Components...

-Of course you put a new Water Pump & O-Ring on while you were in there...

Heh, haven't gotten all that far yet. I stopped putting things together when I found this part.

Okay, so if I'm leaving the front balance shaft in, and I and I am still using the sprocket, I don't plug up the hole, correct? I have replaced all the oil seals. Okay so what order does this little bearing go on? Outside of cover, or inside of cover?

Just take the Front Balance Shaft Sprocket back off & slip it over the shaft - thru the Oil Seal. :thumb:

Thanks man, I've posted this on 4 boards, and you're the only one who answered me. I thought that's what it was, but I couldn't get it onto the shaft last night. Maybe I was just a little tired. I'll do it as soon as I get home.
