2g tps vs. 1g tps

For some reason there is a 2g throttle body on my car (dont ask, I dont know why), and my TPS is going out. I had a friend ship me a TPS for my car and he sent me a 1g, because I did not realize i had the 2g throttle body. Does anyone know if there is any way I can make it work? I am having a very hard time finding a second gen TPS.

It is my understanding that the 2g tps can be used on either the 1g or 2g throttle body. However, the 1g will not work on the 2g. I have an extra 2g TPS that I might be willing to sell or trade you for your 1g TPS. It came with a 2g throttle body that I bought on Ebay for the ISC that was on it.

That would be very cool. There is a possibility that I will be getting a 1 g throttle body, I'm trying to figure out what intake manifold I have on there right now. Anyone know how to tell the difference between the intake manifolds without taking everything apart?

That doesn't look anything like the throttle body on my 91Turbo AWD. This is what mine looks like. However, I understand that the 90 throttle body is different than all of the later models. It also does not look like the throttle body from the 2g GST that I have. The 2g throttle bodies do not have an idle switch on them. So, what you have is probably the original 90 throttle body with the TPS replaced with the 2g version. In that case the 1g tsp should work fine. I understand that the 1g TSP is no longer made and the 2g version is the recommended replacement.

The only problem with using a 1g TPS, the one that I bought, is it uses a different connector. I'm guessing it should work if I get the wire that goes from the harness to the TPS. I guess the 2g TPS does not have a connector on it, the wires are built into it. If I can not get the connector from the guy I ordered the part from I will probably be hitting you up on that offer of a 2g TPS. Thanks for the help curtTSI.

The 2G TPS visually looks exactly the same as the 91-94 TPS.

and the tps in your picture does not look like a 2G tps... I dont think there is anything non-stock about your TB. its just that the 1990 1G TB is completely different from the 91-4 TB.

I think that this is correct. Looking at the picture of your throttle body, the TPS doesn't look like either a 91 or later 1g or 2g. You will problbly need to get a TPS from a 90 model. If your TPS has wires coming out it, it is specific to that model. In all of the later versions, there is a 3 or 4 connector plug that plugs directly into TPS, as is seen in the picture of my throttle body.
