Ok about a month ago i changed my fuel pump and installed it again to find my guage reading basically 1/4 tank or under all the time, if i filled it up then it would read completely emty. Today i decided to take out the pump and try and see if anything was wrong with it, wire broke etc.. but i found nothing out of place so i installed it again to see if it would read accuratly and now it doesnt even respond at all it just sets on the E and doesnt move, any body know what the deal is here? Its really annoying

I don't know the answer to your question but After my intsall my gauge still works but the gas light never comes on anymore. I haven't taken it apart to see if anything is wrong cause I don't care about the light not working but it would suck it the gauge didn't. I would just pull that pump back out and make sure you didn't mess up anything with the float. And by the way I your car looks sweet.

Well when i pulled it out to check everything everything seemed fine, nothing out of place float still moved up and down, all wires were connected and everything, thats why I'm puzzled about it not working. Hopfully someone knows what the deal is.

the float in your tank is basically connected to a potentiometer which varies the voltage to the fuel gauge depending where the wiper is. there is a spec some where that can tell what the range of the resistance is for the pontentiometer when you move the float. if no resistance spec can be found then then the voltage range for the gauge should be available some where. this can be tested with it in the tank. since i don;t have a wireing diagram around to look at the procedure is a little difficult for me to explain. tools needed is a multimeter. if those ranges are correct then i would check the voltages going to the gauge, to see if they are in range for the gauge. if they are then the gauge needs replacing. if that still doesn't work and all the ranges are correct then it is a improper install in the tank

i haven't had to do one on an eclipse yet just only other cars. thats why you need to look for the wiring diagram in a chiltons manual to find what one. and i can't find my chilton's manaul to look for you. other wise i would. becuase its nothing more than a freshmen electrical engineering question. probably had something similiar to it on an exam a couple of years ago.
