I just bought a ERZ 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" downpipe(the ones on ebay) and it will not bolt up to my HKS hiper cat back, this new downpipe gets rid of the cat converter and is supposed to bolt right up to the stock exhaust so I figured it would work with my HKS hiper exhaust.

Does anyone know why it will not bolt up to my HKS? Is there a differance in the stock exhaust bolting pattern and the HKS?

well why won't it bolt up i mean is it too long? are there three bolts instead of two? is the flange at the wrong angle?

there's no info here to tell us why it won't fit. or did someone merely tell you it wouldn't fit?

The DP bolts up the O2 fine but will not connect to the HKS cat back because the two holes where the bolts go through do not line up at all( not even close) I hate to get my new KHS exhaust cut on , I just paid over $600 dollars for it... :barf:

Here's a solution (hopefully):

Make sure you have access to a welder.

Take your downpipe off. About 2" from the flange on the cat-back side, cut it off, nice and evenly (you may want to file the edges to get it smoother). Relatively bolt your downpipe back on at the o2 housing and put it back on the exhaust hanger (if it has one). Take the peice you just cut off, and hold it up to the cut end of the downpipe. Line the holes up to the HKS exhaust, put some bolts in it, and just hand-tighten it down. Now, take a welder, and tach the downpipe onto the cut off flange (which should now be lined up correctly). Take the bolts back out of the cat-back, and take the rest of the downpipe off. The piece that you tached on with your welder should now be pretty much lined up the way it needs to be. Tig the rest of the way around the cut. Your downpipe should now fit like it should.

This is if your holes are just turned around a bit. If they are farther away or closer to the pipe itself, you can just do the forementioned, but just weld a custom flange on with the holes as far apart as they need to be.

It's a lot nicer and practical than cutting up your new HKS exhaust :thumb:

THANK YOU SO MUCH :thumb: That is an awsome idea, I have been so mad since I found out it would not fit,,, Now I can calm down and get some sleep,,, I was hoping I would get some advise from this site and it's members... Thanks Again :thumb: :) :D

No prob. That's what we're here for

i actuall bought the same cat back... but with the apexi ni down pipe.. i was pissed for a few days, then sent the hks back and bout the ni cat back.. gives you a sweet sound plus 3 inches all the way back

I ended up taking it to a exhaust shop and they cut and adjusted everything untill it all fit up. Looks runs and sounds great now. Best power mod so far, but what crappy craftsmanship on the DP. Do not buy a cheapy, spend the money on a brand name unit..
