Ok it seems if i drive nice its fine, but if i boost alot and basically race around, it doesnt take long until im almost out of coolant and i start overheating, as long as im moving its ok, but if im at a stop light it starts going up until i either start driving or rev it up some, that seems to bring the temp back down which is weird.

I have a new thermostat, new rad cap, and waterpump is new. I dont know why I would be blowing it all out, my headgasket was done 6 months ago so i dont know.

how's the spring on your radiator cap? Your cap spring is set at a certain pressure, once it reaches that pressure in the cooling system, the spring will actuate and you will get the coolant going to the puke bottle.

Try filling it up. Turn the car off, check the coolant level again, add if necessary. Be sure to burp it too after you fill it. Repeat this until when you are letting the car sit for a while, the coolant doesn't go down in the radiator. There may be air in the system which can cause high coolant temps...hence...why you burp it.

Are you sure your fans are working properly? check those too.

With all the other new coolant parts you mentioned, the only other thing i could think of is that either the radiator is somehow clogged, try flushing it.

Or whoever put the head gasket it, maybe put it in upside down and it's restricting the coolant ports.

i wired my fan to be on all the time, because it wasnt coming on when the temp was going up, i dont know if the sensor stopped working or what

im gonna see if i can check compression today

i have the same problem.the fans come on and once temp starts going up it wont come on.i took out the relay for the ac/clutch and drive the car with the ac on so the fans will stay on but after like 20 mins of driving it will still heat up.my mechanic said to change the fan switch but i dont really think its that.so im going to get a leak down test done on it so if it is the head gasket i can get it replaced asap.i changed the cap, radiator, took out the thermostat and still its overheating.it will suck if its my head gasket because i just got the whole head rebuilt about 1k miles ago.

If all those things have been just recently replaced I'd bet on the HG. Your problem sounds exactly like mine on my old Talon. It would drive fine. But when I boosted on it it would "push" coolant into the overflow. If I didn't watch it and kept doing it eventually it'd start to get hot b/c there was not enough coolant left. I did not notice one single other side effect though. Compression was 190 psi across the board (JE 9.0:1's). Hell, for a while I would go to the track, make a run, come back and siphon what went into the overflow back into the radiator and make another run! Ran consistent too. Once I finally got around to doing the HG (was waiting till I could build the whole head up) problem solved. We couldn't even see where the gasket was "leaking". Had to have just been a pin-sized hole. My .02, when all else has been replaced (I did the same as you...rad. cap, 180 therm., fluidyne rad., water pump) it's almost def. your HG. Good luck. Let us know.

yea im thinkin its the head gasket too.but boy does the car still have alot of fukin power.i still push it and it wont heat up drivin around town .but im gonna do get the leak down test done tomorrow.if it is the hg its alright my brother is paying for all the expenses so i dont have to worry.thats what i get for using those bullshit felpro gaskets LOL

I am having the same problem as well. I have also replaced almost everything in the cooling system other than the radiator. And, I have a fairly new head gasket as well. The only thing I didn't check when I had the head off was to see if it was warped. I had spent all my money replacing bent valves so I didn't want to know if it was warped or not. Hopefully in the next week or so the gasket and possibly the head will be replaced. I will let you know what the verdict is if I get it done before you!

BS felpro gaskets? Hold on a minute, felpro has made quality gaskets for years. Now it's true I've never dealt with a felpro on a DSM, but I've used them on chevy's and ponchos for years with VERY little problems. In my opinion, they make an excellent gasket--why does nascar, top fuel, and most other race series run felpro if they are bs. In my experience, head gasket problems with aftermarket gaskets tend to be installation errors rather than product errors.
