When I purchased this car used I did not get the manual or a security card for the factory radio. However I didn't need it at the time. The radio died and I have purchased another used one to replace it. I have the code, however when I hook everything up, the radio doesn't power on.

It is getting power, as you can put a cd in it and it will take it and light up the eject button. If no cd is in it, and you press the power button, only the tuning buttons light up. I get nothing on the display and no other lights.

Is there a special sequence of codes I am suppose to use, or hold the tuning buttons down a certain amount of time, to get the code entry to appear? Shouldn't the clock at least light up?

If you could check your 2g manual and let me know I'd appreciate it. This is the stock 6 speaker Infinity system h/u.

Thanks!

Are you sure that the deck works? It sounds to me like its dead, I know on other cars (hondas) that if it needs the security code it will flash CODE (or something like that it might be KEY) on the display and you type it in. Did you have to do any splicing/custom wiring or did everything plug right in?

Nope, no splicing. Was just plug and pray. I bought the thing off of someone on here and they assured me it worked fine when they pulled it. So, I don't know. Like I said, hooked my other one up and it came on no problem.

Yea if your old one works with the same wiring then I would say its the HU thats dead. Hopefully its not tho it sucks if someone (espeically on here) would rip you off.

I am just curious if I am suppose to do something special to get the code entry to appear ::shrug::

I don't think this person is ripping me off, they seem sincere in that it was working perfectly before they yanked it out. The box it all arrived in was fine. So, I dunno.

assuming that you mean the infinity stereo setup here is what the manual says and I quote:
1) ----blah blah hook the radio up
2) put the ignition key in the acc. position
3) press the volume knob and "codE" will appear
4) use the tuner memory select buttons (1 thru 4) to set the code
5) press the "tape" button and you will hear a beep and the system will work

!! you only get three tries, after 3 tries you have to take it too an authorized dealer after the first mistake it will read "1 Err" then "2 Err" then "3 Err" and the display will say "off" after the third error.

You rock. Thanks for helping out. It's official, this headunit is DOA!

I don't get code, I don't lights, I don't get nothing, except a long wait for a UPS insurance check. Heh.
