I got a 92 Talon Tsi AWD and I am going nuts trying to figure out whats wrong with my car. Let me give you some backround on what I have got done. I have a 2.5 with high flow cat from the flex pipe will be getting down pipe once I get my flex piece in. I have put new spark plug wires/ spark plugs in both NGK new stock fuel fillter and put a 3" intake from Mach V from air box to the stock 14b turbo.

Problem

The problem is this when my engine starts to warm up (when the temp guage goes past the first line) an reachs about normal. When I come to a stop the car will have a HORRABLE take off I mean the RPMS are slowly climbing and the turbo is at full spool my boost guage is reading about 8 psi (which is where I have it set on my controller) gas petal is to the floor but the car isnt going any where. One thing I thought it could be was the turbo my turbo has 138,000 miles on it (it has never been rebuilt) I am tempted to put my Big 16g on to see if it will make a differance but am holding back to see if it could be somthing else i have just came back from the dealer they said 02 sensor was weak I replaced that and still getting the same problems. Did some searching found out about PK (Phantom Knock) not sure if that is it but still unsure. I am about 80% sure there isnt a leak some where but I could be wrong been hearing leaking air from around my passenger side tire but just think it is because i have cut holes in the plasic vent to let air flow threw the Inner cooler better. Any help would be much Very helpfull

I talked to a couple of local DSM'ers around here 1 guy said something about new lifters if I am having Phantom Knock. Also i noticed a small crack on the top of my radiator it is leaking a small amount of fluid (about 10 drops a day) would this cause loss of horse power at warm engine temps??

What you are describing is more then likely phantom knock. If you have access to a datalogger read your knock and timing when you take off. You will notice that your knock shoots up and your timing just gets yanked all the way down causing your car to have absolutly no acceleration. There are a lot of things you can do. Do a boost leak test....if you dont "think" you have a leak then you more then likely do. The test is easy and takes about 5 bucks to make a tester. You could get an oil additive to stop lifter tick like Lucas Oil Stabilizer. Or you could clean your lifters or buy 3g style lifters. Last but not least get a new factor OEM knock sensor.
