Weird problem. Car wont pull. Tried a bunch of stuff

I am posting this for a fellow DSM'r that is having a problem he cant seem to get on and post so here it is.


91 plymouth laser rs-t 5 speed 14b. the car runs fine until i get into boost then it wants to cut out between 4500 and 5000 rpm, almost feels like im hitting a rev limiter, also the CEL comes on sometime and i have NO WAY to move it right now to get a logger on it ! just replaced plugs ... gapped correctely, replaced wires, coil pack. did a boost leak check and im losing air thru the middle of my turbo right by the metal band ... i tried to tighten it a little ... that didn't work... car is stock

replace the hoses i had the same prob you would floor it at 4k rpm it would just like shut off till you let go off gas then same back to normal
 
which hose are you talking about because I have a possible leak in that area as well because when I boost leak test it it sounds like it's leaking from that area around the turbo it could be coming from the tester but who knows it bleeds down high pitched.

I can't guarantee that it is your problem, but those leaks from the turbo certainly are not helping. I would definately consider fixing that or replacing the turbo.

Have you even pulled the ECU out of your car to check the caps? Have they been replaced? They can cause a similar symptom to this.

Lastly, is the battery secured? Are all the terminals nice and tight and clean?
 
do u have the little red boot that covers the positive terminal on the battery? i had the same problem, id get on it and it would cut out and the CEL could come on, turns out the positive terminal hit the hood and arc'd it. id check that first. u guys might think my reply is funny but if that boot isnt on there then there is a good chance that that's your problem.
