Car wont start

my car wont start and i'm not sure what the problem is.the car cranks but wont turn over. the starter and spark plugs are fine does anyone have any suggestions what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Cranking and turning over are the same thing.

Do you mean that it Cranks, but wont fire?

There are things required for an engine to run.

Fuel
Fire
Compression

Check your spark. Make sure you have fuel. Run a compression test.

It's more complicated of course. But this is a simple view of how an engine runs. Go from there.

i changed the spark plugs today and that didn't work i'm not sure about the fuel though i have a full tank of gas.....how can i test for compression and for the gas?

Take one of the plugs out and ground it to the frame. You should see it spark as you turn the engine over. As for fuel spray some starting fluid into the throttle body or air filter. If it fires than you have no fuel. To test the compression, remove all of the spark plugs and then hook up a compression gauge. A good engine will read 130 to 160 on each cylinder. Block the throttle plate open when you run the test.

I tried the starting fluid it started the car but it quickly shut back down..i tryed putting more of the starting fluid but the same thing happen...i pulled the filter and try starting the car again and gas was coming up...could it be the filter is bad? or is it something else?
