okay i need a lot of help. i have a 91 mitsubishi eclipse gsx. i just got my engine back in my car. let me give you the run down. i pulled the engine and put a 16g small turbo. a 2g exhast manifold all new hardware. both of these i ported. i put a rebuilt transmission from tre and a 2600 act clutch. i put the engine back in my car and and i started fine. i drove it down the road about a mile or 2. and i started to here a deep groan coming from the motor. i pulled over and found the hose going from the thermastoe housing to the throttle body split and was spraying atifreeve everywhere. so i eased it back home and the groan was still there. it made the noise whether the clutch was in or out. i pulled it in and went and got a new hose. i started it up and it sounds like the noise is coming from the top of the block. i never messed with the timeing belt or the timeing. i did it all about 4 months before i pulled the motor. well i started to rev it up and then i heard to sharp clunks next to the crank pulley and i stalled. i did start right back up. i started to rev it up again and the same thing happened. i took the valve cover off and everything looks fine. nothing smells burnt and i found no metal anywhere. i need help and fast.
 
i found out more about it. the check engine light comes on when it is idling. as soon as it comes off idle it goes out. the performance of the engine was good no power loss.
 
comeon guys i know alot of you ar busy but i need some help. i am trying to get my car on the road for the summer and it is not letting me do it. help please any ideas are welcome

In all seriousness this is very vauge. It is like saying something is wrong with my car and it makes funny noise. We can't tell what is going on.

One thing you can try is pull the accessory belts and see if it is the engine or one of those accessories that sat without fluids for months....

Did you change your oil? Did you compression test the engine? Can you describe the ruccus?
 
the engine only has 115000 miles on it and yes it had brand new castral gtx and a new mobile 1 filter. it has a brand new altinator and the powersteering pump was never disconnected. the noise is like a loud wine. it increases in noise with the increase of rpm. it sounds like a loud timeing gears on a big block. but in this engine it sounds bad. the two clunks came from the front of the engine next to the crank. i removed the front cover to look at the balance belt and everything looks okay. my crank pulley looks intact. i just can't figure out what is wrong and i am very worried it is crank walk. but when i did drive it it have plent of power and good oil pressure.
 
dont worry..if u have A 6 BOLT ITS PROBABLY NOT CRANKWALKED. AS FAR AS THE NOISE....you might have spun a balance shaft bearing. get the eliminator kit and remove them. TRUST ME..my balance shaft belt recently broke at the dragstrip..and it took out my timing belt. u dont want that to happen, and chances are, you probably have to anyway if it spun the bearing.
 
[i found the problem the balance shaft that is on the other side of the oil pump spun the bearing and it was sitting at the bottom of my oil pan.
