hey all..
i have a question.. which is probably a stupid one.. but here it goes anyway
i bought my car probably about 6-8 weeks ago, and it's always started vibrating very noticeably at 105-110.. like the front end bouncing up and down a bit.. so i figured, oh great.. the winter tires (which are on the front but not the back) weren't balanced as well as they could be..
but today i took a trip to sears (20-25 mins away at 90-100mph.. heh).. on the way back, i suddenly realized that there was no vibration at all at high speeds.. i went up to 120mph several times and got no vibration..
now.. my front right ..something.. makes a noise whenever the clutch is engaged and i'm either accellerating or decellerating.. so i think it's my CV joint.. it's kind of a light metal/metal rubbing noise
i was also told after getting my car inspected that my driver's side inner tie rod needs to be replaced.. and it's bad enough so that i can feel that the car will turn more responcively to the left if i snap the wheel, then if i snap the wheel to the right.
my question is this(obviously)... why did the vibration go away? it's apparently not caused by tires being unbalanced.. or it wouldn't go away.. so what do you think was causing it? the CV joint? the tie rod? i don't yet know if the vibration just happened to go away, or if it was due to something heating up after driving so fast for half an hour...
also, is this dangerous at all?
thanks a LOT!
