Car Wont Start

Ok so im driving along fine, the dsm was running great and I stopped to get gas. Get back in put clutch in turn on headlights, radio plays full power. Turn the key and... NOTHING. No winning noise, nothing. I checked the cables to the battery, nothing. I think im gonna pay for a new starter... so I left it and were gonna try to push start it in a lil while.

Can you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the key to the on position? If not, check your MPI fuse and relay.

checked relay fuse and i can hear it. I think its the starter... i dont see how it could just die like that though

Anyone else got any ideas?

Same thing happened to me. Pulled car into garage, turned off. Didnt pull in far enough, go to turn it on again, and nothing. Replaced starter and it ran.

Getting one monday... how much will that cost me and how difficult is it?

It was about 65 bucks at NAPA with core return. Its REALLY a bi*** to get back there when the intake manifold is done, but I was able to do it. I think theres 2 bolts. Good luck. If you can find a used starter from a friend or local dsm club it would be alot cheaper.

Update: it was the starter, everything is fine now Go figure...

Thanks for the update. I think that might be what my car did last night. I tried to start it and nothing. No sound. It didn't even attempt to turn over. It did it two seperate times, but others it started right up. If it's my starter, how long until it really goes out??

well, it doesn't sound like the starter is going out...it sounds like there is simply a loose wire (ground) on the starter...

Im sure that by replacing the starter, everybody also tightened up that loose wire that was the real problem...

shiet 65 bucks for a starter? I paid 150 with the core at Pepboys...dammit.
