low oil pressure

Just the other night I was sitting in my friends driveway and my engine started to tap and when you reved it it was burning oil badly. After a lil while sitting there it went away and the next moring it was fine. Now all of a sudden my oil pressure guage is on the L and doesnt go higher then 1/4 of the way before half way and my light was flashing on n off when i would come to a stop. I have a 91 Talon TSI AWD. I was wondering whats wrong and if its really serious. Thanks Devin

you did check the oil level right? Something's fried and it's leaking oil.

Yes i checked it and its fine its not leaking at all.

If the oil level is fine and the oil is not diluted with gas or coolant, you either have a bad oil sending unit, worn oil pump or worn bearings.
