Cdplayer cycles power on off on off on off random?

Hi,
just got my car out on the road, and the cd player at random times just shuts off, and back on, no information is lost like station or cd position, but the face goes blank and sound stops, then back on and takes off where it left off...

Yea could be a loose ground, are you sure the CD player isnt bad tho. Check out the ground and power wires, its either that or a bad CD player.

I agree - bad power or ground connection (loose, corroded, etc). Or a rare but small possibility (I had this only once) is the cd player internal circuitry has a faulty component (to test take player out of car, connect to battery and shake and press on/off button several times).

I would assume it is not grounded properly. My stock stereo does the same thing, as it is not bolted down and barely touching the frame, which is its ground.

Does it do it when you turn up the stereo thats when mine goes out. I have to reground mine soon because it sucks not being able to crank the stereo every now and then.

I think some troll who's supposed to live under a bridge with his green stick probably stepped on a wiring harness while dancing on your engine.

actually, i recently had this same problem...and it turns out my alternator was going out. finally went out in a flame of style. but, check it out and see if that's it.

defiant was right.

i parked the car next to town. and hid under a shrubbery near by and waited, sure enough, a little green troll peeks out from under the bridge, and heads over.

so i leap out the the shrubbery and yell "thats far enough troll Bi+ch!!!!"

and i whipped his wrinkled trogladyte ass and threw him under the bridge.


actually, it was a loose ground.
