OK, i need to get my car smoged here in cali. Before they put it on the dyno they have to hook it up to a scaner to check if everything is reading right. Well when they hook it up i have 5 pendings, and the most you can have is 2. The 5 that come up are o2 heater, o2 sensor, evap, egr, and cat. The guy asked me if i have unhooked the battery lately and i told him yeah about a week ago. He says to drive it around for a few days and they should be ok. Well i've driven around and still nothing. So my question is why is it taking so long? or are all those items bad? I need to get this done asap because my registration is already past due. I don't think any of my mods would cause it so please let me know (stock exhaust is on), i'm out of ideas. If anyone could help i would really apreciate it, thanks guys!!

Post a pic of your engine bay it sounds like.

1. Your O2 sensor is bad.
2. Your cat is bad(or you don't have one)
3. Someone ripped out all your emissions crap.

I am running a cat, and i don't think it's bad. I had on my 3" dp, so the cat has been sitting for a while. I was also thinking it was the o2 sensor, but wouldn't that cause a CEL to come up, especially if all that other stuff is bad too. I talked to the guy at the smog place today and he said it could be because it's running a little lean in the lower RPM's. He says if it's running lean it could cause it to not reach the right mixture it needs to set. He says he has experienced this with VW's. I'm going to try to richen the lower setting on the AFC and hopefully that helps. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know, thanks.

It's your OBD2 setup. I just got done doing the same thing. You need to take it to a mitsu dealer to have them reset the OBD2 system. Then RIGHT after they do that (without turning the car off) you have to smog it. Right away. It's a bi***, but some of our cars have bad OBD2 systems.

EDIT: You CAN do the procedure yourself, but it's a bi***. I was happy to pay someone else to do it LOL. Just remember, if you shut the car off, you will lose it. You HAVE to smog it right after you do it, so make sure you can pass visual and sniffer before. No sense paying for it more than once, right?

I think it was 300 to get the procedure done and to smog.

EDIT: you're in Fremont? I have a friend in Newark.

PM me if you need more info, I have a WEALTH of it. Only a few cars get afflicted with this problem. Supposedly there is a recall out for it, but only for certain VIN numbers. Mine wasn't included :(

You will have to do this EVERY time you go to smog, just to let you know.

Unless your VIN is covered :p
