whining noise??? need help

there is a whining noise coming from underneath the car....but only when i'm moving, so it has to be between the tranny and the wheels. it doesn't do it all the time, just every once in a while. i'm thinking that it's one of the carrier bearings on the rear drive line. anyone have any other ideas?
