If you get a jdm engine with the cyclone intake on it, i read somewhere you have to either have the jdm ECU, or do a wire mod to your current ECU. Would it work if you just swapped the intake manifold for your current one and ran your current ECU?

would would either need a jdm ecu, and to modify your main wiring harness so the jdm ecu connects to the cyclone mani to control it.
or you would need a jdm white charcoal canister, and use of your PCV and something else under your hood. theres something online somewhere about doing this, im sure you can find it if you search for it.

IMO, your best and easiet choice, would be to take the manifold apart(iv got one siutting around, and it comes appart in 3 or 4 sections) and remove the secondary runner valves. then have it ported while its all appart.

so u can't just put a USDM intake on it and run a USDM ecu? I have my motor here i can scavenge off of.

You can use the usdm intake, After a year of Cycloning around town, I swapped my USDM intake on.

There is no ECU modification to make the Cyclone work with a USDM ecu, you either need a JDM ECU, or a lot of rigging following the tech article written by a fellow member in the tech article section of intake and exhaust.

I have the JDM ecu, Butterfly actuator, and White canister.
and ill take 1 million dallars for it ;)

the cyclone is nice, but a pain in most cases.
after you start modding the extra 5% on lowend torque wont matter.
but the extra topend flow of the usdm will.

also, if you use the usdm intake, all you have to swap is the CAS and the upper housing of the thermostat, and buy a90 model oil cooler.

use the cyclone and you have to workout several wiring issues, the TPS is different, and wont plug up you have to cut and splice the wires, the COil pack wont work, the power TR unit wont work, All of these things are simple fixes, but not as easy and putting on a usdm intake ;) feel free to pm me

but saying "i got a cyclone" sure is cool

jdm is sweet

and also, the only Cyclone specific plug wires ive found are 100$ by magnecor, though im sure these NGK are long enough

Lord Paxin,

I think i saw you in the classifieds a while back selling that Cyclone car, i was going to buy it from you at one time.

So the only thing i need to do a motor swap would be to change the intake manifold and the CAS?

what about the oil cooler off a 90, is that a necessity?

I have a 1g 6bolt, I should be able to just canibalize everything i need shouldn't i?

Hi,
you need the 90 model oil cooler because the JDM galant came with a Larger Externaol oil cooler LIKE the 90 model dsm, and i doubt your motor will come with the oil cooler, since your not getting the ecu.

you can either get the oil cooler, or swap the Oil filter housing and main water pipe off your spare 6bolt, but the air cooler is superior. and its simplier to just screw in the oil cooler lines and zip tie it to the car.

I got mine for 55 shipped.

the CAS, the Intake, and the upper housing of the thermostat. right next to your radiator cap.

Oh, and the 02 sensor would be a wise swap, differnt wire count im prety sure.

with the USDM intake, you can run Air

I took the butterflies out of my intake and ported it a little bit, and I also used the USDM ECU that originally came in the car ('93 EPROM). I haven't had any problems at all with mine.
