oil pump

I'm going to be doing a timing belt soon and i was wondering about the oil pump. The pump it self is behind the oil pan right so why was i told you should change the front cover? Wouldn't i only have to change the actual pump not the cover with the pully on it? thanks guys

cause it just holds the pump in... wear and tear is not an issue on the cover itself

so ur saying i should do the case? i just thought the important part was the pump.

no man... that was the reason I said the case does NOT get wear and tear so no real need to do anything to it cept make sure its sealed good...
