in my auto....when i slam on the gas, whatever gear it dropped into, it would spike to about 18 psi, then drop and stay steady at about 11 psi, then it shifts into another gear, in that gear it will boost up to 15 psi and stay there steady.....my questions are:

1. How much boost am i actually boosting?

2. Also, whats wrong with the car?

Thanks for the space

what up all...sorry i didnt inform you guys but i have a k&n fipk, turbo xs rfl bov, turbo xs boost controller, and an autometer boost gauge.

Thanks

Well to me this sounds more like a boost controller problem.

If you CAN hold 15psi to redline in a higher gear with more load, yet only hold 11psi on another gear? Most cars will produce more boost with the more load on the motor. Sometimes the initial load of a gear when changing can cause spiking, sometimes its the boost controller or related lines/components with it...etc But if you only get like 11psi in first and then 15psi in 2nd forget about it... nothign is wrong Thats what gearing does for you buddy ;)

thanks man. so is it somewhat safe for it to spike up to 17-18 once inawhile for a split second?

ahhh it aint gonna hurt nothing...

Try taking out the boost controller and see what that turbo is putting out now that you have a BOV. I bet you will hit 15psi and hold at leist 12-13 to redline. Most 2G's will produce numbers right around 15psi in stock form (will be apparent after a BOV replacement). Anyhow try that and see if the spiking goes away... just run all vacuum lines and NO boost controller at all and report back :thumb:

i usually am around 15 psi, with occasional spiking to 18, and sometimes it creeps to 16/17 in 3rd and 4th, depending on the day. full boost is usually 15 psi until near redline where it drops to 13/14 psi. i got a k+n intake, turbo xs bov, 2.5 downpipe to 3 inch exhaust, stock boost controller (getting upgraded real soon). in first gear i only get like 8 psi though, and in 2nd it only hits about 12-14 max. 3rd is where the real power comes in.
