oil pressure

n e wayz i am just wondering if a dsm wont start if there is no oil pressure, because thats what i think is wrong with my car. when i used to have a firebird it would not start witout oil pressure well i am gonna need some people to answer me thank you. i am new to dsm cars i think they are pretty kool

I find that hard to believe. The only reason why there is oil presssure is because the oil pump is pushing oil, but running into resistance. Oil pumps are usually crank driven, so you can only have pressure once the engine is spinning at a certain speed. (already running)

Wthout oil pressure, they will happily start up and destroy themselves.

Usually, the pump will put out enough pressure to turn off the idiot light just under cranking alone.
