Carlisle,
i am having a problem with the felpro intake manifold gaskets. i did a rebuild and it held for 20k then blew. it has has now been 6 months and it blew again, this time its pretty bad. using an air compressor set to 20 psi, it will not even hold and it hisses like crazy just under the injector. i used some soapy water its definately the intake manifold gasket and not the injector o-ring. its seems the gasket should have lasted longer. my car is stock with freebies, k&n, 8mm wires, ngk plugs, and homemade mbc at 14psi. i am not getting knock and timing is great so i know its not to much boost. i have noticed that when i am driving normal and suddenly drop it a gear and floor it, the car hesistates and then i let off the gas and i hear a release of air. so i put two and two together and think that when i am driving normally (under vacuum) its fine but when pressure builds its spitting all the air out the leak. however, when i slowly press the gas, boost builds fine. the problem is intermittent. i forgot to log when this occurs because it should go rich. i did some research for intake manifold gaskets and came up empty. i saw a couple of post of 93-94 models possibly having a metal intake manifold gasket but i thought they were all the same. i was wondering if anyone has had really good luck with another company that makes them or if factory tend to hold stronger. i had the car since 90k (5 years ago) and it now has 150k. since i did not have the car originally, i do not know if it was replaced before. in other words, if it had the original manifold gasket for 90k. any help would be apprecitated.

[EDIT: torque is at spec for intake bolts]

The stock ones are fiber, and blow out easily. I had the same problem, I was running rich as hell under boost, and at idle I could even hear my intake mani hissing. I bought a rubber gasket from Mach V, they said it was their upgraded one, I never saw a metal one or else i would have gotten that instead.

yeah, i will never buy paper again. whoever has replaced their intake manifold gasket knows it not fun. however, now, i get a chance to replace my knock sensor since it spilled its goo. thanks for the reply, sounds like the mach v metal is the way to go.

The copper spray, is that what you are talking about also?

You could use the spray to hold gaskets in place, but I don't really trust it to actually "seal." I use the cans because you can lay it on a little thicker, and a little more precisely.

I know this post is a little old but i'm having problems... I have a Big 16G I used to hold 19 lbs all the way to redline. Know I am only spiking when I set to 19 then dropping back to 13 or 14. I'm I having the same problem or is it something else. My turbo looks realy good no shaft play. spin when you barely move it. I also get a slight delay in power, but not in boost. boost goes up but the power is not there until about a sec later.. I have tried both crushed and uncrushed bov. neither one made any real noticable diffreance. Took off turbo replacing exhaust manifold gasket but don't think that is it.... but I am willing to try anything about know....

Get a stock gasket from your local dealer. they are around $20 and they are, i belive, coated metal. not likley to blow out. just a suggestion tho, and also, order it from the chry. dealer for a talon, if you have a mitsu. cant tell, its not in your profile!
