Okay, so I posted a few months ago about smoke after I changed heads (old head had bent valves from tbelt snap, bought a used head and put it on). I was recommended by a few to change the valve seals, and I just finished doing so (using spxmiller tool with cylinder head still on car). Still smokes. It's an oil burning smoke (I think). Right when I start the car, it doesn't smoke... but then after a few seconds it starts smoking. This makes me think it's because as the oil pressure gets up, it leaks somewhere, like the head gasket. I checked the compression, it is within specifications. If you can have a headgasket leak, do you still read within specs on a compression test? If I can get some help about where to start looking, that would be great. Thanks for your time, sorry about the long post.
ps. when I had the head off, there didn't appear to be anything unusual (scoring on the cylinder walls or anything), the flatness of the head measured okay and the block looked okay, but I didn't measure the block flatness. The headgasket was aftermarket.
pps. also I didn't see any mixing of coolant and oil yet, haven't ran it for very long since I got it back together (after valve seal change). I don't remember seeing any before I started the valve seal job though. I will run the car a bit tomorrow and check again.
