Hermonic balancer let go.

I just got done washing my car at work. (I work at a toyota dealership) . I go to start it up and hear a loud knock coming from the engine bay, say i turn the car off. At this time all the techs are gone home for the day so i was like oh shizt what am i going to do. So i pop the hood and see one of the belts let go (i think the alternator, waterpump etc) I call my buddy who is a tech and he comes and looks at it. He says "oh no, your hermonic balancer broke off, this is bad, i hope non of the balancer went into the timing belt" . So yea i am scarde and my car is undrivable. Has anyone had this happent o them???

It's pretty normal... The crank pulley separates after it gets old, and the rubber brittles and cracks. Just buy a new crank pulley replace it and be on your way.

yes, the harmonic balancer is the rubber piece in between the 2 pieces of the crankshaft pulley.

I just noticed you are referring to it as the harmonic "balancer". I assumed you are talking about teh harmonic dampener (which is the piece that I was talking about..) When this goes the crank pulley separates, usually causing the alternator/water pump belt to shred.
