I got a 96 Talon TSI (FWD) and when you push the clutch in it has no pressure for the first 3 inches you push it in. And it catches like an 1 inch of the firewall when driving. I replaced the master cylinder and slave is in condition. I have bleed the hell out of it and it still feels the same. What else can I check for? I have read maybe its the clutch pedal assembly, but i have'nt found any vfaqs on 2g. How do check the clutch fork and fulcrum?

u well bled the clutch, replaced the master cylinder and u said the slave is in good condition, u didnt state anything about adjusting the clutch. do that and see how far u get with this. it should cure ur problems. u can adjust the engagement point and the amount of freeplay.

when i try to adjust clutch by taking out that pin and turning the rod a few times it doesn't really help. and when i turn it to far I have trouble getting the pin back through the pedal it self. Like I turn it to far and I need to turn it back some to get it to work. should i spin it counter clockwise or clockwise to move it out I would assume counter for it to push the master further away ( i dont know ).

since u have 3" of free play, u will want to turn the rod counter clock wise to remove some of the free play. turn it little by little and once u get at least an inch of free play, test drive the car and see if the engagement point is around 2-3" off the floor where you want it to be. and if u still arent satisfied, adjust it more to where u like it.

Thank you very much for the help, its been very usefull. I have no more play in the clutch and it feels great. It still catches pretty high, but i'm sure i'll figure the exact adjustment for it. thanks again.

K i see this thread is sort of resolved, i dont' mean to jack the thread or anything if im doing so im sorry and let me know, now i need to know how to adjust the clutch in a 1G, the clutch has pressure and fliud but it engages really low. Thank you

Hate to bring this one back from the dead, but I have the same problem, only I've adjusted the clutch ALL the way out and there is still lots of play in the pedal. I installed a new clutch about 2 months ago, could the pressure plate be already flattened??

Thanks!

have u tried bleeding the clutch at all? there is probably a bunch of air in ur lines. i dont think adjusting the clutch all the way out is the smart way to cure the problem. there should be about an inch of free play and ur clutch should also grab right in the middle.

go here and follow their steps, http://www.teamrip.com/clutch adjustment.html

Have you checked the linkage? I had to have my clutch linkage welded together at the arm. I had about half the pedal of free play then pressure. Then when I'd let off the pedal it wouldn't come back all the way. I'd have to pull it up by hand. That's a major sign that the clutch assembly is worn and you need to have it welded. It happens on heavier clutches.

Check out Taboo's site for more info if you think this might be your problem.

Thanks for the replys.. i look into the pedal possibly being jacked up... but here's my question.

This all happened a couple of days ago as I was pulling in my garage... and I could feel a little popping at the pedal as I lost the pressure and could barely get it into gear. So then I pull back on the slave boot to see if that was the problem, and sure enough it was bad. So I replaced at (keep in mind my clutch system has been perfect thus far). And now, after bleeding the system god knows how many times, it STILL won't go into gear.

So my question is this, why would this be happening all of a sudden if something didn't give? Could it possibly be a flatened pressure plate (even though its only 4 months old!)?

I just had a new TRE tranny and ACT clutch kit and flywheel installed. The clutch engages JUST off the floor. it is supposed to come up a couple inches before engagement. i have a '93. Could not find the vfaq info. The rod adjustment is right at the end.?? Help!!

2G have a different clutch pedal assembly. The clutch rod sits right behind the clutch pedal unlike the 1G's where the clutch rod is behind the accelerator. Mitsubishi did make an improvement on the flaw.

Pump the clutch pedal, and see if you can feel the change in the engagement point. If it engages at a different point (or you feel the pedal pressure building), then you need to rebleed it.

it doesn't change on mine at all.

still wont go in gear. master cylinder is adjusted all the way out. What does it mean if you hear a sqeeking/creaking noise from the tranny when you push the pedal in?

das all I got.... :(
