I was replaceing the rotors on the rear and when i went to pull it off it would not budge so i used a hammer and gentley hit it. it started to come off but only one side and then the other side would start to come off. Now from what i see the e brake is holding the rotor on im stumped. had to put the old brakes on and they sound like shit. When I put it back together and tried to spin the tire it would turn but not well at all it turns and then stops I NEED HELP. Is there a trick to getting these thing off or what.

Thanks aj

Is there anyway i might have messed up the ebrake system trying to pry the rotor off and hitting the rotor to pop it off I hope not cause im broke after recently buying a house. E-BRAKE works right now it just doesnt make any sense.

make sure you have no breaks on. emergency or regular. drive it and slow down to where ur gonna change it and DONT press ur breaks in. and there is a couple bolts your gonna have to take off first. once you do get it off, this is where the fun begins. the rotors on the calipers in the back are threaded. so you cant just clamp them in, you have to rotate clock wise while pushing in to push the rotors back into the calipers to accomidate the newer thicker pads. there is a $10 tool from any parts dealer that you will need to hook up to a ratchet (extension helps).

hope that helps.

I don't fully understand what you are asking, but it sounds like you need to adjust the e-brake. Are your e-brake pads worn? As for what boozeted said, you mean the pistons in the calipers need to be screwed in, not rotors?? That was really confusing. This is true only on the 1G. On the 2G, the rear caliper pistons can be pushed in.

Well I got them off asked a tech at mitsu something called a (star something) but now the right side sounds like metel on metel as I go faster say 30 35 mph it goes away to a light sound. I took it to a shop and they told me that it was the brakes breaking in. But why would one side do it and not the other dosent make sense. Thats also the rotor i first tried to take off. Do you think I might have bent the e-brake system. Any thoughts.

Also do you have to adjust the e-brake at all after doing back brakes.Oh and the noise (metel on metel) is there when im off the brakes and when I push them in it dosent get worse just sounds the same
