Angry new head or rebuild??

Need some input on this!!! I have a 91 eclipse GS-T and i put a 92 motor in it with 80,000 miles on it. The dang thing wouldnt start. I have spark and fuel and it cranks and the timing was set perfectly but i didnt think i had compression ### when it cranked it just sounded like it didnt want to start...so I took out my spark plugs to look at the tops of my pistons and i saw some like newer shiney dings on them all ...Does this mean my valves are bent and if so should I get a new used head or have mine rebuilt?? Thanx in advance...bill

Do a compression test on it and if all else fails pull the head and get it rebuild unless the valve seats are damaged really badly, but from the sounds of it your problem maybe something else, my pistons have little dings in them from the valves smacking them but it still ran okay.

what else could cause bad compression because the motor had only 80,000 miles on it so i doubt it is the rings and the head was replaced on it so the gasket is ok....im stuck...

I am just trying to cover a few other things before you go tearing the head off, if the head was rebuild and the timing belt didn't slip or break the i would be hard pressed to think it was bend valves unless they are bend a small amount and the person didn't do the head job right, but the gasket could be blown also, what compression numbers are you getting in the cylinders?
