I am swapping in my 1g into my 2g and I have this weird microphone looking thing on the intake manifold. I have fouind the wire that goes into it but it is cut right where it would go in. What is this for? Is this necessary? What does it do? What is it called. Please help!!!!!

I have the picture attached and there are arrows pointing to the wire that i am holding up to it and the microphone looking thingy itself.

Thanks much

nope...close though...it's a noise filter (a capacitor) as long as you are using the 2g electrical parts then you don't have to keep it.:dsm:

go unplug it and come back and tell me if you can read your rpm. TIA

obviously somebody already has and i don't hear him complaining bout no tach.......my point though is that it IS a filter, and on a 2g he will NOT require it....i think you may be confusing it with the 90' tach filter which you do have to have to get a tach reading.:dsm:

he is doing 6 bolt swap. Car is not running yet. He will not know if the tach works or not.
