:laser: I have been getting gasoline in my oil. The oil cap and the dipstick smell like gasoline. I have changed the oil and flushed it out with cheap oil and refilled it with pennzoil, I also changed the filter. Where could this gas be getting into the oil system? Also the oil is burning out of it and I lose oil. What could these problems be?:laser:

:laser: I recently checked the compression and it checked good, I will try it again but like I said it was good when I checked it recently. If the compression is good what else could be going on?

correct me if Im wrong but couldnt the coolant temp sensor cause it to flood out also? Check the injectors also. They could be leaking down everytime you turn the car off and the only place for the fuel to go is past the rings.

I am having the same exact problem with my 91 eclipse. I dont know much about cars but the local mechanic said he thought it could be the computer was stuck and ingecting too much gas and flodding the motor but he dont seem too sure...could this be a possibility

The car is obviously flooding. Yes, coolant temp sensor can cause it to flood, also bad injectors. I wouldn't assume the ECU is bad until you have checked every possible option. Dont assume the worst right off hand. The only way gas is getting into the oil is past the rings. Do a leakdown test to determine exactly how much leakage you have past the rings. I'm guessing its not that much if you still have pretty good compression readings but check it out anyway.

That could be the problem too, I had a old shelby charger turbo that had bad injectors and when it sat they leaked a lot of gas that ended up in the oil.

Well how would i check the injectors to see if they are bad? And also I had put the logger on it and a fault came up for the coolant temp sensor, but how would that cause gasoline to get into the oil?

If it shows a bad coolant temp sensor, replace it. If you have a logger, what were the o2 readings like? Usually when the temp sensor is bad, It fools the ecu into thinking the engine is cold and makes it run really rich, hence the fuel in the oil. If this is the case, you should have seen it on the o2 readings.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have a 90 2.0 NT and i smelled gas in my oil. I thought it was head gasket or rings at first because my car was sluggish and i figured compression was low. I tested compression and all readings were 155 or higher. So thats not the problem. Im not too concerned with it because it is a 14 yr old car with 160k miles on it. But if you figure out the problem please let me know, because I too would like to fix it.

having the same problem. Ihave an APEXi timer with O2 readings. What should I be looking for?

Mine was doing this when I bought it - the ECU had died & went to wide open on Injectors - BEWARE - you can bend a Rod / Rods tyring to compress Gasoline - The previous owner did that to mine...
