I have a 1990 Plymouth Laser Non turbo A/T 1.8L:laser:

Im having hard starts(1.5 sec). I just replaced my spark plugs and It still happens what could it be. When the engine is warm it starts right up quick though.

Also My car idles fine until I turn on the air conditioning then it starts to idle low and the car starts shaking. When I try to start the car with the air conditioning on its hard and idles real low from the jump.

Has anyone else had this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

First disconnect the battery. After it is, turn on ignition switch and let is sit this way until you are done. Next, get a small wire brush and a can of intake cleaner and thouroughly clean the inside of the throttle body. Spray all around the blade, bottom and top, and clean good with brush above and under the blade while holding open the throttle. Turn ignition switch off. Reconnect everything. Start vehicle and let it warm till the coolant fan runs. Locate the ISC motor on the throttle. The motor itself had a 2 wire connector. Make sure there is no tension on the throttle cable holding open the throttle, if so adjust. Next, turn the ignition switch on (do not start) and immediately feel of the throttle where the cable connects. After about 15 seconds you should feel it move slightly. Unplug the ISC motor (2 wire connector) and start vehicle. You will have to crank a second or two because of the intake cleaner. If it doesn't start or starts and dies, screw in the screw on the thottle called the SAS (speed adjusting screw). It takes a flat tip screwdriver. Screw it in or out to achieve 750 rpm. Then back out the phillips head screw (Fixed SAS). If idle changes adjust the SAS again to 750rpm. Then screw in the Fixed SAS until idle speed just slightly increases. At this point back it out 1/2 turn. When adjusting to get the 750 rpm, try not to do it when the fan runs. Shut off engine. Reconnect the ISC and restart. Vehicle is now at factory idle settings. It may take awhile for vechicle to "relearn" idle. Do not try to set higher than 750rpms. If vehicle still fails to idle, ISC may need to be replace. You should also check the TPS after setting the idle specs. There is CTP (closed throttle position) switch incorporated in the TPS. It should be on at idle and off as soon as the throttle is cracked. This will often make the engine "idle hunt". If it has never been adjusted or moved it is probably ok. Let me knows if this helps.
