Help with my dead DSM

I was driving in fourth gear running 5 grand just about to switch to fifth and poof, oil pressure dropped. My car tried to shut off and a little down the road it did. I look up under the hood and there's oil on the front under the hood. You can hear the starter when you try to turn it over but I couldn't tell if anything was spinning. I looked at the timing belt and it didn't look stripped. But unfortunatly the only day I didn't have have tools with me was the day the car broke down so I couldn't tell if the timing jumped. I'd like some good opinions b/c this stupid car lot I got it from hasn't looked at it yet. It's a 1st gen talon tsi. It seemed to run pretty good it just needed a little tune up but now it sounds like to me it's just gonna need a new engine.

maybe a headgastket. test the compression. thats the first place id check.

I don't think that's it b/c the engine didn't get hot and the antifreeze was fine. Could be possible though.

Does the engine turn over at all cuz if the starter is turning then everything is moving. Does the engine look like compression is there? do all you hear is the starter when you try to start (no sounds from the engine)?

All I hear is the starter goin errrrrrrrrrr. Like the engine could be locked up.

Did you check the block for a big hole with the rod jamed threw it

I didn't see a thrown rod. The lot is finally gonna look at it. I'll be glad when it's fixed so I can get back to eattin hondas and sh*#ing chevy's.

Let me get this straight....The oil pressure fell off the face of the earth, the car tried to die, and you kept driving it till it ceased?

If this is what happened you will probably need a new engine.

From your rather lame description my only guess is you spit an Oil Filter Gasket & toasted your Motor.

I hope I get a new engine that'd be sweet! Good thing I'm in good with the car lot, i've bought three cars from them. When I find out what it is I'll tell every1.
