i bought a 14b recently and today i wanted to test the wastegate to see if it was working.....i hooked it up to the air compressor and set it to 15psi.

it only opened up about half way and it stopped. I put it to 17psi and it still stayed open only half way.

could it be the actuator or the flapper????

thanks for your help

I believe this is just a limitation of the actuator, and is a "normal" DSM problem.

It happens with all of them, it just doesn't have a very wide range of movement. There's some people that have done things like lengthen the actuator arm to try to fix this.

A different way to combat this problem is to open up the wastgate hole a little. using a die grinder, grind it bigger, and possible go a lot bigger, getting a new flapper. Something to think about.
