Knock Sensor

My car is running super slow. I don't have a logger, but I believe very strongly that the timing is being retarded due to either detonation or a faulty knock sensor. I think that I have ruled out the knock sensor, does anyone have suggestions as far as what I can do to figure out why it is doing this? I get 91 octane from Shell, so I really don't think its the gas.
