dont know if tranny or TOB?? HELP....

well the car has ben running good after the new 6-bolt install a couple of months ago. but the last week or i have been driving the car and when i downshift or am in 4th or 5th gear this big howling noise comes. it is espically when i downshift, its loud...not like grinding noise but more of an howling noise. well today i was driving the car and luckily i wasnt far from home and when i hit the gas and let go of the clutch pedal the car would not want to go...i had to slip the clutch all the way home to get it to go. than it started workin ok for a minute or two and when i hit the gas again the car would just start jerking back and forth. my cousin was with me and he said it might be your throw out bearing. i know it cant be the clutch because the clutch has less than 10k on it. but when i did the clutch install i put in the oem tob also. so i dont know what it can be...but i am sure it is coming from the tranny. the reason i dont think it is the tranny is because when i shift the tranny doesnt grind and i havent had recent problems with the tranny. any ideas??

a howling noise like how it sound when u have it in reverse? if so id say it may need more gear oil. far as the jerking i dunno if it could be related to that. does it buck like that like when u try to start off in 2nd or 3rd and giving it alot of gas?

Check the fluid in the transfer case.

well got a chance to check it...first since i saw the filler plug for the tranny, i unplugged that and it was WHAT I DIDNT WANT IT TO BE....the tranny fluid was grayish silver and there were metal flakes in there...does that mean that the tranny is gone or is about to go?
well i did check the transfer case and the fluid was fine.
if the tranny is fully gone is it cheaper to rebuild or another tranny...and what are some places where i can get a tranny? i know SHEP has some but what is his website.

i am just confused on how it went bad. after the reubild i drove it for easily more than 500 miles...the tranny on the old motor was fine....
