I just got my boost gauge and this may be a stupid question but every pic I see of someones gauge has the needle resting at 0. Well mine isn't plugged in or anything so I think that is the reason why, but it's just sitting all the way down to the right at 30 vac which I'm assuming it should do since it's not hooked up but all the pics I've seen of peoples haven't looked like that and been at 0 so I just wanna double checked I didn't get screwed.

Also this is the Autometer Ultralight version...can I replace that crappy plastic tube w/ something thicker and not as crappy? Like would it make a difference on the reading. LOL

The reason the gauge sits at '0' when the car is off is because there is no pressure or vaccum while the car is off. If your gauge is at '-30' on the vaccum side, it might be faulty. What I would do first is install it and turn on the car. If it goes to the normal -20 to -15 vaccum at idle and reads boost when pressure is applied, I wouldn't worry about it too much. All autometers I've come accross sit at '0' when the car is off.

The plastic tube can be replace with something thicker, it shouldn't really matter what you use. Just as long as it's tight to get a good psi/vac reading.

Yeah I guess I'll try that. Now I just have to figure out a way to tee this little tiny tube into the larger one. Do they have T's that will fit both the main lines I'm tying into and this little ass one?

You can use any T that fits the regular vaccum hose. Just run the same size hose from the T and insert the tiny plastic tube from the gauge inside this bigger rubber hose, and zip tie it tight. Worked on my GST.

Hmm good idea, LOL. I'll try that when I get off work. I hooked a bike pump up to the gauge the and pressure gauge didn't budge, the needle stayed where it was when i put air into it, I was thinking it should be moving but I could be wrong. Anyway I will try that when I get home and if it doesn't work I will contact the person I bought it from off of www.dsmtrader.com and if they won't give me my money back I'll try filing a case w/ paypal and if that doesn't work I guess I'm SOL, LOL.

It was bought used though so I don't have a reciept. Do they ask for anything or just say send them this one and they'll replace it? Also did you call or email?

Well it's confirmed, I hooked it up and it didn not move. I emailed Autometer and told them I recieved a broken one and I also emailed the guy asking for a refund. Guess that's what I get for a used $25 boost gauge  Now I'm just hoping the profec b I bought from him works also. I can't test it out either since I have no boost gauge to hook up.
