Hey Guys, I hope you can help with this one. I searched the site for
an answer before I wrote this. Here is the deal. When the car is cold,
it is hard to start, kinda of like there is no fuel enrichment. It runs
fine when it is warm. The check engine light comes on after one
minute. The idle bounce around between 1000 and 1500 at stop
lights, for a few seconds, and then settles at about 800-900.
The car is a 90 GSX AWD turbo with 138k on it. It runs great, except
for that cold start problem. One more thing. Will a ECU from a 91
GS turbo interchange. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Mike

sorry to bring this out of the past but does anyone know what wrong with his car? mine is doing the same thing.
blackgsxawd what was the problem in the end?

There is a little solenoid on the firewall, connected to the fuel rail by vacuum line. I beleive it gives the engine more fuel during cold starts. Although not necessary, it does help, and I would at least see if yours is hooked up.

actually the wires on that coolant temp sensor are kinda frayedd, plus the fans are always running. so u think these sensors have to do with it being hard to start ? i dont really here the fuel pump kick on while turnin the key, i only here it wine while running, i just bought the car and there is a replacement fuel filter in the car that hasnt been installed soo

actually just checked and that vaccuum line was on like half way barely. the car is warm now, so i have to wait til its cold b4 i know if that was the solution.

having the exact same problem myself. checked the codes a few times and they're always pretty random. Took it to a mechanic and he told me to replace the brain inside the big dome thing in the bottom left of the engine. something to do with cooling something. I will scan the diagram which tells you what to do if you want to try it.

update: install the part today, have to wait until the car is cold to see if that fixed it.

do any of you have fuel pressure gauges? like "sjgYFZ200" stated about having more gas during a cold start, to check the pressure going into the rail. you might be having a problem with the fuel pump. the filter/strainer could be plugged. and it gives the right amount of gas needed when warm but not enough while its cold. my buddy at UTI is looking for that diagram to get back with you.

Turned out it was my ECU, in case anyone is still having this issue... I bought a new one, got it all set up and it works great now.
